Can you call a movie your comfort movie if you've only seen it once so far?

It's rare for a film to shift your perspective on life. It was difficult for me to emotionally process, and affected me for days. It takes remarkable tenderness and creative courage for a tragedy to be life affirming. We must live.

On its surface, Out and About may appear to be unambitious to a fault. Little in the way of compelling plot, emotional performance, or political/moral message. However, it's in this modesty that Out and About's incredible ambitiousness lies. We often look to films to be overwhelmed with emotion, challenged by unheard narratives, struck by visual sublimity. Out and About asks the viewer if they can be touched by the pedestrian, challenged by the familiar, inspired by the quietly mundane. The viewer may struggle to do so, but they struggle alongside Jeff Fisher.

Every inch of morality, Christ, pain, freedom, love, and the human soul is lovingly explored to its very depth in this breathtaking cinematic meditation. One choice can be so intuitively moral yet so irrational and devastating; how the world reacts around that choice speaks volumes about each of us.
