I always have trouble getting hooked on movies where the politics is at the forefront because unfortunately I have a pea-sized brain that has very limited knowledge and experience. Thankfully State of Siege is so adeptly structured and directed that it’s both easy to follow and one of the most engrossing thrillers I’ve ever seen.

I always think about what Michael Haneke said about simplicity being the hardest thing to achieve, and this film is one of the premiere examples of absolutely beautifully constructed simplicity.

One of the more bewildering and interesting films I've seen in recent memory. John Waters called this movie "more disturbing than Salo", which of course prompted me to immediately buy the film on blu-ray. While I don't know if I necessarily agree, I found In a Glass Cage to be infinitely more captivating and intriguing than Salo. Where the film goes in exploring this extremely fucked up relationship between the two main characters is as captivating as it is disturbing.…
