    A little disappointed with this one.  It was a fun watch with a great premise and some good bits in there but it felt like a South Park episode and the satire just felt too goofy and heavy handed.  I think O’Russel’s movies are generally underrated but this one didn’t really land for me and I even liked Amsterdam.  I’d give it another try sometime but it could have been better.

    A new favorite for sure.  In the multinarrative style of Pulp Fiction, Traffic, Crash (2004), but better than any of those that I’ve seen.  Haneke weaves a tapestry of modern Europe with so much more depth and detail than should be possible with two hours of voyeuristic vignettes.  He gives just enough detail for the audience to follow the plot, but never overexplains or infantilizes the audience at all.  It’s the perfect narrative balance that makes you feel smart just…
