Coming from someone who has played the game this show is adapting, NieR:Automata Ver1.1a in many ways surpasses its source material, however, it’s more so a downgrade. Although it's listed as a single season, the show (like the game) is clearly split into two halves of differing quality. Where the game shines in the first half while the second feels underbaked, this show achieves the opposite.

As with this show, let’s start with the bad. That first episode was a…

2024 was certainly no 2023 in terms of new releases and how many total movies I managed to watch, but it was still a really great time, shared with some really great people.

To start off, I achieved my goal from last year of trying to write more in depth reviews, and while I did slightly improve my overall review quality, I also wrote 3 highly detailed reviews that were a step above the rest! These were for Poor Things,…

I love science fiction. Mickey 17 is a wonderous mix of comedy, existentialism, political commentary, and of course, sci-fi. The film covers so much ground without feeling bloated or overstaying its welcome, and the story, themes, and messages are timeless. The performances are all around great, but Robert Pattinson in particular steals the show as both the apprehensive and awkward Mickey as well as the bitter and nihilistic Mickey, once again showing off his incredible…

    Dream Scenario

    ★★½

Some interesting concepts paired with great filmmaking; however, I think I would’ve liked this significantly more if it didn’t go for the meta commentary route. It was on the right track with the dangers of fame, but the whole cancel culture thing was annoying and slightly problematic. The movie was overall a disjointed mess—frequently switching between emotional, funny, scary, and thought provoking—failing to blend its genres together.

    [10 Most Anticipated of 2024] - #1

I feel as though I have so much and yet so little to say, all at the same time. Just like with last year’s Across the Spiderverse, I think my prolonged hype got so unbelievably high that I need a moment to digest what I’ve just witnessed. I’ll have a more clear opinion after I’ve watched it a second time.

What I can say though is that I think I just witnessed history, this…
