This was stressful! I watched the original Dark Water (2002) yesterday and it was less stressful than this!
Stop falling into the water, cat!

A truly original movie, that doesn't fall into any stereotipical animation movie archetypes. It's not American style, or European style, it's Zilbalodis' own style, with its minimalism and careful camera placements.

If it takes from anyone, it might be videogames. It's reminiscent of Journey (2012) and Fumito Ueda's games.

I feel the horror of the water infiltration stain growing in my guts...
    MOLD is the true enemy.
The "water is scary" imagery is effective, and if you've ever lived in a moldy apartment, alas, it will be extra scary.

Not super scary, but very tense, and at times heartbreaking.
Those repeated shots with different combinations of people in it (trying to avoid spoilers) really hit hard.

I didn't expect this horror to have such a tragic emotional core. That ending scene, man...

I appreciated how the mother's existence feels so fragile, buffeted by economic forces and downright malice, way too real.

It's a victorian gothic movie, go away horror fans, nothing for you here.
You keep swamping gothic movies with bad reviews, while it's your own expectations which are at fault.

Giving it 5 stars to balance the score a bit, it's actually a decent gothic movie with some nice moments, and it doesn't deserve to be so low.

Well I truly hated every minute of this.
Well crafted, interesting cinematography throughout, and the dialogue sounded like somewhat historically appropriate English.
    But so not worth it.

Boring, annoying, pretending to be profound, but actually empty. Every time it looked like it may get somewhere, it just kept going back to the start of the cycle of dull chores->unmotivated insults->deranged monologue->queer baiting, rinse and repeat.
Deranged monologue after deranged monologue, however well acted they may be, in the end it's…
