This was a film that gives very few opportunities to get absorbed in the story, because at other times the unbounded ambition of the director will jolt you out of your illusion. Once Upon a Time in America 1984

it was a masterclass on the passage of time and the things that withstand it. interesting relationship dynamics between max and noodles' choices in women and deborah and max's complimentary natures. these dynamics along with a jumbled up presentation of chronological events makes for a fun solving puzzle. the music was phenomenal and at times felt intense. it was a long movie, but a memorable one.
