The Sorcerer's Apprentice 1955
Not essential Michael Powell, but the sets and choreography are cool. Wish the camera moved as dynamically as in "Hoffmann," here it feels stilted.

Frida 2024
Those beautiful animated renderings of Frida Kahlo’s paintings are worth the price of ticket admission alone. Really want to know the software they used, After Effects? Cinema4D for some of the pieces? Need a behind-the-scenes reel ASAP!
Also, Fernanda Echevarría del Rivero’s voice acting as Frida is fantastic!
UPDATE (March 15, 2024): They worked predominantly on Adobe softwares, so… After Effects was definitely at play here. So inspiring!

The Small Back Room 1949
A back-to-basics for The Archers after the grandiose “Red Shoes.” Sure, it’s about a bomb disposal expert, but it’s predominantly about alcoholism. Gripping climactic sequence on Chesil Beach.
