The Magic Blade 1976
Simply spectacular. Definitely feels like the big scenes from a multi part book series but I think it pulls that off. Long for a Wuxia but you never feel it. A shocking amount of women in the film including an Old Devil women who cooks people alive.
Fantastic Sets, lighting and great blocking keep the whole thing mood and engaging. I gotta see more by this Chor Yuen fellow

My Blade, My Life 1978
Pearl Chang is so Iconic. The film meanders a bit and the plot tends to spin its wheels at times. But I feel like My Blade, My Life has more to say about humans tendencies towards pursuing sensless cycles of violence than most that try. The action is very Taiwanese, though in a flashy, fast, wtf just happened kinda wa. Which I can appreciate a lot.
