This was honestly such a let down. The titular character felt so flat and empty. We never get to know Anora, or even get to see what draws her to Vanya in the first place and so it's hard to understand her desperation to stay married to him - a desperation that in my opinion would have hit its mark and elevated Mikey Madison's performance if we understood the reason behind it.
It's funny at times and the actors are doing a good job performance wise, but all that falters because it trails weakly behind a character that would have benefited tremendously from better writing.Translated from by
