I'm ten films away from a thousand watched. Let's count them down. Number 998: Kuroneko directed by Kaneto Shindo

This my second film from Shindo and I loved it about as much as Onibaba. The performances are really strong, especially from our two Yokais. The use of spotlights in the scenes focusing on the mother and wife give the yokai a more theatrical and otherworldly feeling, which serve as a deliciously sharp contrast to the scenes set in the real world. The last scene is unfortunately really contrived, but other than that it was rad as hell. Great movie.

This is the most unnerved I've been by an Adam Sandler movie since Jack and Jill.

Immediately giving the impression that he is controlling and maybe not a good guy. Then we see him coach her on what her story should be and we witness a gaggle of police come in, turning our first impression on it's head.

Yo Babies aren't that big. Really embarrassing mistake on Miyazaki's part. Have to give it a 1/10 for such a mess up.

Glad they gave the guy that directed the live action Deathnote one of the most beloved Japanese icons.
