This movie won’t win Oscars because Carlos Diehz’s character said “Rhinoplasty? No” instead of going “penis to vagina”
The movie looks amazing (the colors and blocking omg), the score is fantastic. Political drama and performances are solid. Some of the Diehz speeches towards the end felt a bit Oscar-baity though. Good movie
Eggers really said “what if Dracula was actually The Exorcist and had jump scares?”
Ending felt a bit perfunctory but everything delivered. Had me watching through my fingers a few times.
Also felt like a cautionary tale about guys who leave their partners behind for work trips. I saw this movie while on the road with a couple coworkers. Not sure how I should feel about that
It's hard for me to give this a rating because, like other marvel crossover movies, so much depends on other movies for this to work. Character arcs were set in motion long ago, so there are great payoffs in here, but they don't necessarily feel "earned" because this movie didn't set them up.
