  The Prestige 2006

  The Prestige is a film that I didn’t know much about coming in other than it being done by Nolan. Was very discombobulated during the first third but once I understood the storytelling I was very intrigued. Unfortunately I figured out what was happening right about halfway through which made the rest of the movie not quite as enjoyable. It is slightly disappointing that I could figure it out but it was still a great build and a satisfying payoff. 7.9/10

  I was really hoping to like this one a lot and maybe on a subsequent watch I will like it more but on the first watch I just didn’t. Bateman did good as the traveler balancing comedy and being menacing. I like Egerton but I didn’t love his performance as I hoped. The tension just never felt fully developed and then the movie was over before I knew it. The cop plot also seemed forced with how vaguely they were able to figure out what was going on. 6/10

  I really don’t have words to describe this film. So very intense and ethereal and everything looked phenomenal but I don’t see myself watching again unless I do a full Eggers watch through. 8/10

  It’s good man. Makes me uneasy with how real his character felt while also being in a heightened world. Almost reminded me of punch drunk love if Adam Sandler had started killing people. I can’t imagine the process that Joaquin had to go through to get into this character. Hope he’s doing well. 8/10
