To Catch a Thief 1955
Da cat has found itself a kitten. Grace Kelly in this film was a blueprint for an ideal partner, one that I have now found; pocket sized et brune, it’s her all right.
Hitchcock succeeds at manoeuvring his way into an immersive cinema where his characters feel authoritative and stylised, hip to da fact that they’re in a film, and use it to fuck wid us (audience) every chance they get.

Kirk Douglas (outstanding chin) is a spectacular leading man, his demeanour jogs da earth between excellence and exploitation, leaving behind two corpses worthy of a perfect reportage.
From all angles of technical language, performance and writing this film exceeds into a special league of hard-boiled classics.
Its final shot is one of my favourite cinematic conclusions ever, one worthy of Sunset Boulevard’s dollar.
