I understand why it won the best animated feature Oscar. There’s an exceptionally great scene where a bird ascends into heaven and it’s one of the best animated scenes ever crafted.
Other than that, compared to The Wild Robot, this one has a more interesting and even bittersweet ending, which has made me ponder over it for longer.

The story feels like a retelling of a real life event. It is told mostly by “show not tell” with a couple of well placed expositions to key context for the purpose of advancing the characters journey.
The characters were golden. The standouts were the coach and the student. Their development was so solid that by the end you are mostly able to tell what they are thinking in the moment. This only happens because the pacing is slow, mimicking…
Doesn’t beat around the bush at showing us how brutally effective is the Equalizer. Serves as a nice contrast to how John Wick’s fights go. In them, you can fear that John might die at any point, but the Equalizer doesn’t fuck around.
Better than expected.
I’m Mexico, there’s a phrase to describe a movie as “palomera” if it manages to be entertaining and only that; nothing great nor bad.
