Villeneuve excels at capturing the vast grandeur and epic sweep of Herbert's mythpoeia, but where this adaptation really earns its keep is in its choice to illustrate Paul's rise to messiahdom through more personal, human stakes. Gridman Universe 2023
Totally functional bash-em-together crossover movie that largely lacks the superior writing and character work which was the trademark of the two TV shows. Robot fights are epic but underwhelming at the same time without much of a human connection to all the flashy action going on. Still some lovely individual segments and some great gags, but overall a disappointment.
