bro LMFAOOOOO yet another entry into the danish people are all psychopaths film canon. this easily beats uncut gems for my most anxious/uncomfortable watching experience ever— the shaky cam and the excellent short-lasting foreshadowing right before all the pivotal moments actually made me want to crawl out of my fucking skin. ulrich thomsen is INSANE as christian and honestly there's not a bad performance here. what a start to dogme 95!!! #HeleneAndGbatokaiOTP

about 100 minutes in béla tarr graces us with maybe the single greatest shot in all of cinema. the march/hospital shot is one of the most, if not the most technically awe-inspiring and emotionally harrowing takes in moviemaking history. the slow crawl the movie takes to get there is at times frustrating, but the payoff in tandem with this movie's beautiful cinematography, score and symbolism (there is so much to unpack in this movie that currently i'm simply incapable of) makes it so worth it. mystifying, bleak, gorgeous. even in the most total of eclipses, a sliver of light must shine through

this movie is so incomprehensible. none of the shots make any sense. the entire soundtrack for this movie, which is very bleak and gray and takes place on both US coasts is for some reason classical hindustani (i think???) EXCEPT for when machine is listening to fucking Come to Daddy LMFAO. joaquin phoenix looks like if you asked someone to draw matthew lillard in SLC punk from memory and talks about battery-operated vaginas. all of the scenes are so disjointed…
