Cocteau’s tricks are so cool. I think I liked this more my second time—certainly an interesting take on the classic myth. Death is obsessed with artists and artists are obsessed with death (even to the detriment of their human relationships). Loved seeing what is maybe the original inspiration for my favorite lighting gag in Addams Family Values (a perfect film).

Ella Enchanted 2004
Ella my anti-fascist queen. Did I miss the part where they successfully reversed those bad policies and brought equity to the kingdom?
We watched this for family movie night as our Irish (emphasis on ish) film for St. Patrick’s Day.
Pacing was not great, but I had a fun time. I miss the days when most movies ended with a dance sequence. Bad graphics sort of added to the charm and I really love Anne Hathaway. One of God’s favorite theater kids.

50 First Dates 2004
Best parts included:
- Drew Barrymore beating up Rob Schneider.
- Everything with that old man at the diner.
- Sean Astin’s reaction shots.
- The Adam Sandler bust in the room full of paintings.
- The soundtrack and the sometimes funny-good and sometimes actually good score. It was actually making me physically angry how Sean Astin and Chet Hunter were handling this situation at the beginning. Fun that she got to experience The Sixth Sense for the first time…
