A lot like prey, Romulus brings back the alien series to its roots, by giving us a mostly self contained story that seeks to use its IP in new creative ways. The passion is felt in every frame, but the passion is also lacking in the lore of the series. The movie fails in respecting some important lore details that long alien fans will notice.
Romulus is the best movie in the series since aliens, and is a great starting point for new fans. Like prey, this movie leaves me anticipating the next alien movie with hope instead of worry.
