Wishmaster is a generically assembled 90s horror movie that reaches moments of greatness through its titular character: the Wishmaster. When the Wishmaster's not on screen I'm going "where's Wishmaster?" He's delightful and vulgar and embodies the beautiful schlock that all movies of this kind should strive to. Unfortunately the rest of the movie doesn't embrace that camp enough or explore that many interesting avenues with the genie premise to elevate it to a classic.
I'd recommend Wishmaster to anyone who appreciates a movie-elevating performance along the lines of Frank Langella's Oscar-worthy Skeletor in Masters of the Universe (1987). It's a lot of fun.
