Cinema. A slapstick adventure that is equal parts silent film, Looney Tunes, 70s stoner comedy, 00s flash animation, and even feels an awful lot like a video game (especially the way Jean makes beaver and rabbit kills and exchanges the pelts for weapons upgrades). Bloody and gory in the absolute goofiest way possible. It does go on a bit too long and becomes repetitive in parts, but otherwise is one of the most unique movies that I've seen in a long time.

If you ever wanted to see a film adaptation of the Salad Fingers flash animations of the 00's, then this is probably the closest you're gonna get. This movie managed to create a genuinely creepy atmosphere, so it's too bad Longlegs themselves was just weird and goofy when we finally got to see them. The ending felt like one of those riddles where the solution has several new pieces of information that you never would have been able to sus on your own (he was a dwarf and he used his umbrella to push the elevator buttons!). Interesting but didn't quite work for me.

Like most Americans I didn't know who Robbie Williams was but was drawn to this movie by its strange gimmick, wanting to see what depicting him as a chimpanzee would accomplish if anything. In my opinion, it helped you get inside his head more: the way we each view ourselves is incongruous with how other people see us, and I thought this movie made maximal use of that tidbit of human folly. It was a fairly conventional biopic overall but his unusual appearance and the energetic musical numbers bumped it up a notch for me.

Also WHY was I attracted to him 🙊
