Tony Kushner, you have the sauce!
I made sure to meet the movie where it's at, and oh boy is it fun and moving and (dare I say?) patriotic. But all that comes crashing down when the 13th Amendment is read aloud, and you hear "except as a punishment for crime" with the music swelling. Deeply evil!
Tracy walked in at some point and asked, "Why does he [Daniel Day-Lewis] look like Lincoln?" -- Movie Magic!

On rewatch, I am of course looking to find the hints dropped along the way, and I don't think the film works as well as it does the first time -- knowing the ending, I now want something more than to see the magic trick play out.
It's kinda funny that Nolan made a movie about two dudes building their careers off of making and remaking the same trick and then went on to build his career off of making and remaking the same movie (dangers of a guy being too obsessed over a single thing).
(I'm being facetious. I love Nolan.)
