The cinematography, character dynamics, and dialogue were all stellar. I have now learned of the term "mumblecore" and will be seeking more.
It felt like you were a fly on the wall in a group of real friends. The unraveling plot was fun to experience. There was one specific scene that took me out of it briefly, since the characters' reaction to something still doesn't make sense to me.

Fantastic film. The emperor's personality was my only gripe, because of how his trauma and complexes were communicated. Spoonfed to the reader, no depth, very on the nose. Granted, the emperor basically needed to be spoonfed himself, but it's still jarring in contrast with the rest of the characters.
