Victorian London through the eyes of Lynch is absolutely stunning - they knew what they were doing hiring him post-Eraserhead.
It's almost weird to see him do a film this normal, but he gives it an edge that prevents it from being any kind of run-of-the-mill period drama.

Maybe a bit melodramatic in places, but oh boy, it is impossible not be touched by that ending

I'm going to need to watch this again to rate it properly, not only because it was a lot to take in, but also because the fuckhead sitting next to me spent the entirety of the film rustling and snaffling about loudly on crisps and sweets. Mate, you are watching a film about the industrialised murder of millions of people, can you leave the quavers alone for FIVE FUCKING MINUTES

Eraserhead 1977
One of the all-time greats. In fact, I'd probably say the greatest American film ever made.
It's art on every level; every frame, every weird focus on random props, the lighting, the constant noise - everything fleshes out this creepy industrial nightmare world that resonates with every fibre in my soul.
Every time I rewatch this, I appreciate it even more. I don't think there's a single other film, or work of art, that truly captures the absolute emotional hellscape of existential anxiety like Eraserhead does.
Also I love the funny dad.
