I would be fine if this is what we published in scholarly film journals, instead of relying exclusively on written and typed pages. It's been awhile since I watched such a memorable and wild thriller. These characters are compelling but also have that pulp sensibility that keeps you distanced from their interiority. As someone who has done work in the foster care system, this is probably the most accurate (and heartbreaking) depiction of child neglect I’ve seen on film.
