watched this for a class im taking over horror. i think as a take on the slasher sub-genre this was fun, subversive, and a surprisingly good watch.
i had low expectations going into it, and ended up enjoying it a lot more than i anticipated. while i had a lot of fun with this movie, i don't think it's anything revolutionary.
definitely worth your time for a genuinely fun slasher film though should the mood call for one.

i think the sci-fi setting and recurring death make for a generally lesser aspect of this movie. arguably, it is not defined by these aspects. i do definitely think that they add to it, especially given the main storyline of alien colonization and the mixing of religion and government.

at this time of watching, this might be my 5th or 6th watch over. and every time this movie has astounded me, and still does.
in an era where "superhero fatigue" feels at an all time high, this movie has served as a reminder the love i have for superheros, and that the genre deserves to have strong well created films.
