  Color me impressed. This sounded stupid, but turned out to be a very well done tech-centric horror wrought with atmosphere despite literally being a Zoom call under the free meeting time-constraints. Quick runtime, convincing likable characters, and not as focused on the gimmick as I assumed it'd be.

  Chances are this will go down as legitimate mid-corona isolation horror here in a few years when we're all dead and cockroaches are ruling the earth. The death throes of civilization looking for something other than reality to fear. Happy trails.

  This is the type of game concept that doesn't translate well to film because there's a huge difference between the phone gimmick first person in a video game versus watching a teen use their phone camera flash as a weapon on film. It doesn't work on screen, and mostly just comes across as silly. There are some decent creature effects and the sets are cool, but overall this is a mess of a film.

  Am I the only one bothered by the fact this is called Viral and the description says it's a virus, despite them making it explicitly clear throughout the film that it's a parasite?
