  There's a fine line between a good dream and a nightmare. Lynch toggles the switch lightly for much of the film and then he shoves the lever all the way down. Can't believe it took me this long to see it, very happy it will be in my head from now on

  Some thoughts:

  -That coroner is going hard. Someone get the man a SAG card.

  -"I believe the common denominator of the universe is not harmony, but chaos, hostility, and murder." Werner Herzog for President, please.

  -I will make the sequel to this. It will be called Toad Man. I will go to the jungle and try to become a toad. After I get eaten by something, Herzog will interview ecologists who have to explain my desire to become a toad.

  There is simply a sense that this is what Adam Sandler was born for. Ebert wrote very eloquently on how PTA was able to co-opt that Sandler persona and use it in the most outstanding context. Someone needs to think about what this man is capable of when they're writing a movie.

  Some of these shots positively kill me (looking at the room number listings in the hotel earns high marks, as does the hotel lobby reunion). Praise for Elswit,…
