This movie is, in all respects, a great follow-up to the original, elegantly dealing with paying homage to the classic that came before it and finding its footing as a standalone film.
In one word, I would describe it as brutal. The action sequences are gritty and gruesome and every kill evokes raw, visceral emotion from the viewer, but the story is by far and away the most brutal part of the movie.
