Anora really acted her ass off but I’m surprised at the volume of awards this movie got. Certainly entertaining and hella unique, definitely deserves some Oscar’s but I know about all of them.
Vanya reminded me of what I imagine I’m like blacking out at parties I host — a long look in the mirror after this one

Felt like a boots riley “sorry to bother you” twist at the end. I didn’t like the movie , but I enjoyed watching it. Can’t remember the last movie to make me feel something so strong (repulsed). I straight up gagged at the body horror
Like most of my best movie experiences, I went into this knowing nothing.
This movie excels in a few ways
- a great cast doing very well. Jackman and Bale are amazing lead men.
- The movie being about magicians, tricks, and illusions ties in really well as a meta-theme about the director’s rhetorical decisions. A more serious Now You See Me approach to movie magic
- The plot is good. Don’t want to give much else away.
