    Dune: Part Two

Witty quips aside, Dune: Part Two isn’t just a grand, sweeping sci-fi epic - it’s powerful filmmaking that’s thematically rich, emotionally driven, and faithfully adapted. It asks compelling questions on religion, saviors, colonialism, environmentalism, power, all in the middle of action, romance, political intrigue, and even comedy. So happy for Denis, Timmy, Fergie, Elvis, Hans, Greig, the list just goes on and on… their passionate dedication to the craft has culminated in a smash blockbuster success that transcends the boundaries of what the genre can achieve. A must see in theaters!

Bong Joon Ho’s Megalopolis; a smattering mosaic of a brilliant director’s progressive ponderings delivered through extensive bits with political implications. A niche of filmmaking perfectly suited to Bong’s penchant for absurdist comedy, societal commentary, and tonal shifts. Mickey 17 is a much more coherent set of themes fleshed out with obviously timely messages in today’s day and age compared to whatever high-as-balls dementia Coppola was yapping about, but it did lack a plot to particularly draw me in, with characters…

    Black Bag

    ★★★½

A purely psychological spy thriller, Black Bag sees Soderbergh at some of his typical best with clever, hell downright hilarious dialogue amidst a pristinely constructed screenplay. Fassbender and Blanchett are slam dunks in their roles, Marisa Abela as fun as everyone says. I had a bit of trouble shaking this sense of artificiality; like I was acutely aware I was watching a fictionalized story the entire time, but maybe that’s just how it be for a boring NYC finance bro watching a spy flick set in London. Good movie.

I have officially watched this an unhealthy amount of times, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to see it on one of the largest theater screens in the world. Still so fun even though I know exactly what’s coming. Denis is a genius.

Salty that my first experience with Part 2 won’t be at this IMAX… get your shit together AMC!

Mikey Madison I was always familiar with your game. What stands out to me just as much tho is Baker’s ability to get the best out of all of his actors. Vanya? Biggest shithead I’ve seen in my life. Igor? Fuckin love that guy man. This is the same filmmaker that made a mesmerizing, heart-wrenching drama about 6-year olds, so it should come as no surprise. The plot does slow down after a fever dream euphoric beginning, with a 2:20 runtime,…
