The story of Bob Dylan's change from acoustic to electric acts as an interesting and profound disconnect of an artist's stubborn fans and a musician striving for artistic greatness; however, A Complete Unknown manages to tell this story in the most uninteresting way imaginable, with uninspired filmmaking throughout its over two hour runtime.
Timothée Chalamet's and Monica Barbaro's Oscar-nominated performances are the only reason to watch this film, as well as Bob Dylan's music. Everything else feels very lazy, essentially checking off a list.
Go watch Inside Llewyn Davis instead.
