The Killing of a Sacred Deer sets out a very unnerving and uncomfortable vibe from the getgo by portraying every single character unnaturally, captivating you and taking you on a journey to when the movie reveals itself and all hell breaks loose. The symbolism is clever and the creation of suspense is gripping.

M is by rights a very simple, straightforward story. What elevates it is the way the movie is presented.
The whistling leimotif was an impressive thing to incorporate given that this was his first ever use of sound in a movie. Fritz Lang also presents the horrors of the crime so artistically, showing very little to depict something so violent and abhorrent, leaving it up to the audience to imagine what could've happened.
All of that to lead to the final climactic scene of the movie and a speech that sells the whole film.

The story from the rock-opera album The Wall was put into visuals in such a perfect and satisfying way. The mixture of absurd, symbolism, intensity depicted by both animated and live action perfectly suited the album and told such a captivating story.
