  As I've outgrown most of my various childhood phobias, one thing I've continued to find genuinely unnerving are depictions of space being distorted. Not into abstraction or physics-defying, but into uncanniness. Seeing an otherwise normal space lose its familiar markings or identifiers and behave unnaturally creates a pit in my stomach. Needless to say I thought this short was terrifying.

  My favorite artist. David Lynch's work changed my relationship to movies and art and really a lot more than that as well. It's always struck me a little silly to attribute some part of your person to a filmmaker or musician or artist of some kind, but Lynch's films really did play a role in how I became myself.
