I love a movie with real consequences. This could’ve easily ended with Robin Williams giving a moving speech that wins the father over, or with Ethan Hawke finally finding his voice and persuading the Welton Academy to change its ways. Wow. Just wow. Don’t even know where to start. Jacob Piccolo’s performance is reminiscent of RDJ in Tropic Thunder as “the dude playing the dude disguised as the other dude.” Beautifully shot with exceptional sound editing. Incredible commentary on The Prestige to open the film sets the very Nolan-esque reveal of CJ as the motion capture performer.
In short: I Think You Should Leave meets Inception meets Oppenheimer meets Place Beyond The Pines. Incredible.
