Could have been told and shot, or even edited from what was there, in so many different ways and been good. A fucked up, yet interesting and important (as a end scroll shows) story told in such an uninspired, cookie cutter, way. The dating game was central, and provided such a great substrate to explore this grotesque real world killer and the implications of his crimes against women through the misogyny of the show itself. Yet most of the runtime is crude (cut from any other Netflix crime trash) serial murders for the sake of "oh he IS a killer" brain rot. A waste.

Shoah 1985
One of the most profound films I've ever seen, and will likely ever see.
So simple, on the surface - interviews overlain with current footage of the camps, towns, and surrounding landscape. Yet the composition of the interviews and footage never fails to create vivid reconstructions in the viewer's mind, transporting you through these locations and experiences. Pure poetry.
Every subject is fantastic. How you manage to fully flesh out everyone, whether they be on the screen for 3 minutes…

It Follows 2014
One of the best recent horror movies I've seen, hands down.
The concept is so wild on paper, yet the execution of it in this film makes it seem absolutely genius. It starts off strong, with an iconic (or at least deserves to be iconic) opening sequence. Throughout, the timing and framing of the horror is near flawless. There's an overlying forboding for the entire film as a viewer, just as the characters would have felt. Misdirection is also implimeted…

Full Metal Jacket 1987
Joker is one of the most interesting characters in film, to me. There's so much conflict in this movie, even as a viewer. There are many scenes where I feel torn on how to feel about certain dialog or actions, is it satire? Are we supposed to laugh? Are we supposed to root for this person or are we supposed to hate them? Is this a beautiful scene or an ominous one? All of this wrapped up within the backdrop of the most morally conflictive conflict in America's history. Im here for it, 100%.
