  Maybe it is depressing that I sometimes feel nostalgic for 2000s “auteur driven” franchises, but here we are: Verbinski Pirates, Star Wars prequels, Spider-Man trilogy, LotR, Nolan Batmans, Anderson Resident Evils, Oceans 11-13, Bay Transformers. Hard to think of any blockbuster series since that followed this mold besides the Snyder trilogy. Also Johnny Depp seems like a piece of shit.
