Triangle of Sadness 2022
To me this truly feels like peak socially aware cinema.
Such an enjoyable watch, so funny, so truthful, and simultaneously so metaphorically intelligent with the way it’s presenting societal critiques; that it almost felt like a puzzle trying to figure out every hidden relation to capitalism, communism, consumerism, exploitation, climate change, social hierarchy, power, feminism, racism, etc.
The only criticism I could have is the fact that it’s showing awareness on a topic it’s also sustaining by producing this work,…

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I'm noticing I end up thinking a film loses depth if I can eventually see the embodiment of the motivation, like I don't want to be given the answer to everything, my imagination can work too.
Still really enjoyed this though, and the dancing was so so beautiful. It really added an extra element of appreciation for me, because it isn't trying to make it seem like, but actually is.
And who knew Luca could make something this gruesome? This really changed my perspective of him as a director.

Atlantiques 2009
This felt like it was made for me, beautiful stuff.
Unexpectedly touching, because it made me reflective about underlying societal issues such as colonialism, power and capitalism, and the powerlessness and desperation of my people as a result of that.
Touches some heavy existential topics as well, and really loved that it was all in a conversational manner.
Only realized this documentary existed after I watched the last Atlantique made by the director, which made for a very epiphanic but great experience.Translated from by -
