I only cared for this about half the time but I am (mostly) glad it’s out there!
Jeffrey Wright: *delivers line*
Director: Oh so you’re actually Gordon, not Batman—
Jeffrey Wright: Oh. But can I still say my stuff like *delivers line*
Director: Sure
No but I did like this
A lot to admire but for some reason never fully bought it. Sets felt like sets, costumes felt like costumes. Was never immersed in the world or invested in the story. First fight sequence felt like Scorsese handed the project off to his high school intern for a week.
Enjoyed DDL here; would have been OBSESSED with him as a teen. Found the final shot to be powerful.
Don’t know if I can properly rate this one. Probably the most effective depiction of the casual, instantly accepted absurdity of this war I’ve seen. So much is so impressive but it never fully clicked for me and I found myself a bit bored even with the theatrical cut. I dunno, man. Didn’t enjoy watching forests incinerated or an animal slaughtered either. Also too much voiceover.
Animated geographically accurate 1980s NYC solely populated by animals 👌
Rest is pretty good too!

I will be upset about that whale for YEARS

Ben & Dylan don’t kiss :(
There’s a lot I’m trying to put into words but I’m failing so I’ll just say I thought this was not very good
I like it don’t love it. Want to love it, not sure how to. What I do know is that Standing Brain Man during the climax makes me cringe and recoil with the utter satisfaction of a totally disturbed and entranced moviegoer.
