Zola 2020
i think the cinematography was the redeeming factor of this movie. a lot of really interesting creative decisions were made that led to an immersive experience, especially in the moments where Zola was in danger. I also think that the aesthetics, mis en place (or whatever tf), and wardrobe design in this movie were really cool.
However comma why tf do they have to portray swers like this once again it’s so evil. this movie is a worse anora lol.…

i think that it really eloquently and adeptly critiques toxic masculinity and gender roles while at the same time curating an aesthetic that is stereotypically masculine. to me, that choice was to bring in a male audience, the very type of person they’re critiquing!! genius.
