It has some excellent kills but gets bogged down but too many peripheral characters sharing info into Michael’s past and intentions to the point where Michael becomes less terrifying and more plot device. But also still paced really well and genuinely terrifying. Also Laurie feels less front footed in this and more helpless which isn’t a good look for her and not who why we love her.
So many surprise moments and solid lore building. Jamie Lee Curtis is so good my god she’s a legend.
An incredible debut from Chris Nash. The love of the slasher genre, and the poking fun at it while delivering a constantly tense and orient thriller set Nash apart from other, less careful, slasher directors. You can tell everyone involved loved making this film. The kills are a perfect amount of sadistic, absurd, fun— my audience was laugh/screaming (a perfect place to live for a slasher).
