Love how this film lures the audience in with the promise of sci-fi violence and political intrigue only to completely shift gears and insteads becomes an ethereal drama about violent men trying (and eventually failing) to find a peaceful life.

I do prefer the more gonzo energy of The Red Spectacles. Stray Dog can be very slow in a few places and I’ll admit to being a bit bored sometimes, but the cinematography is gorgeous so it always looks incredible even when it’s dragging.

Stray Dog is currently available on Internet Archive.

All the performances are great and deserved…

RIP to one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. His work changed the way I saw the world. I don’t even know what to write. The moment I read about his passing I rushed to rewatch this short.

This short is my favorite of his. Only one minute long and yet it create such an intense feeling of dread. Not just because of the visuals are eerie or “weird” but because it evokes the intense emotions one feels when they…
