PlayTime 1967
Just an absolute fucking feat. I kind of don’t care that it drags, that the humour can be “blink and you’ll miss it” — these characteristics are really just in service to the experiment that is this film and on this rewatch I’ve come to appreciate the richness of that idea. The idea that, no matter how many times I watch this thing, I’m going to get something new out of it. It’s a game, and I’m here to play it.
The nightclub sequence is also just one of the most mind-boggling and lively things ever put to screen.

The precipice between life and death, grief and loss, war, violence, what it means to live at all.
