Django is the fan favorite Tarantino blaxpoitation film but I've always thought the "subversive" aspects of that movie were mostly random nonsense happening and over the top dialogue. Jackie Brown's plot is way more grounded in the characters interactions with each other. Especially love the scene where the Bondsman says some movie logic shit like "a good cop won't let you know he knows you're full of shit" and it cuts to the 2 action movie looking cops eating her shit up and playing it by the book.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 2016
Rewatched before Andor S2. 100 plotholes, some new characters better than others, Tarkin and Leia CGI was lame. One Million storm troopers get shot. Last 40 mins is the best Star Wars ever. Love Krennics fit. Love X Wings dogfighting Sk-1s. Only got to see the Devastator for a sec but the Death Star peaking over Scarif was 👌👌👌

Dazed and Confused 1993
Serious review: So fucking dense and immersive and (political) for being a plotless stoner buddy comedy at its surface. It's mean but so was the 70s when that post-war public investment halted and boys were being sent to the meat grinder in Vietnam. This movie felt like an ode to the members of the generation who first started smoking dirt and giving authority the middle finger. It's mythological. It's culty. It's American. I love movies about America.
