Kinda late to the whole cult of personality horror tbh. Sad thought while watching was that The Menu did it better. Pretty in moments but long drab stretches.

Left the theater thinking of all the craft that went into this. The emotional restraint of the acting, the gorgeous scenery and models, the stellar soundtrack. What a beautiful film!
I had an uneventful bus ride home and enjoyed dinner with a friend. We laid together and I held them. I finally began to sob. What a movie.

Incredible use of practical effects and puppetry. I hadn't known just how extensive the puppeteering was when I started watching but I was more than delighted. I'm biased, but the otherworldly aspect of a dead man returning to the world being emphasized by him being a doll? Excellent. Paired perfectly by having watched GITS Innocence just beforehand.
