Reality 2023
Loved the acting and cinematography in this, but the dialogue was sooo boring. It got interesting towards the end, but that’s about it. I get that they wanted to base the entire script around the real transcript the movie is based off of, but it just wasn’t all that interesting.

wasn’t super invested in the characters and their relationships… Joshua’s relationship with Alfie felt very forced and just not organic like it seemed they were going for. The writing was also HORRENDOUS. I feel like if the writing was stronger, this would’ve been a completely different movie.
All that said, I was very invested in the world they created within this film. I wish they leaned more into that— I wanted to see more of the relationship between the AI…

Poor Things 2023
Weird beginning that felt a little like fetishizing infantilization, but Bella Baxter’s character really grew on me, as did all the other characters. I found myself really invested in the story, albeit gradually. The story crescendoed into a rather strong ending.
I do have some qualms about this movie’s claim to be empowering and feminist. Mostly because a lot of this “empowerment” comes from her selling her body to men, bringing in the age old question of “is porn/sex work…

a lot of great performances in this film, loved juliana and natalie as always — I felt like the ending was a bit anticlimactic though and that there was a lot of built up tension that ended up not really going anywhere. all in all though still a beautiful movie with an interesting premise and commentary
