what a beautiful southern gothic tale that i just may add to my christian horror watchlist.

danielle deadwyler is so captivating.

the sequence where berniece finishes playing the piano, the candle re-extinguishes and then we see her sitting there, her eyes looking upward reverently and the golden cross around her neck glows as though it’s trying to burn right through her.

this was quite the ride. i discovered this on tubi’s filmrise live tv channel and it made me so uncomfortable. this guy has a monologue about his SA fantasy and the way the male characters discuss the female ones is so gross.

the lighting is awful, the dialogue is weird. it’s hard for me to believe that a scientist would have the time to make all of these horrible decisions. maybe i think too highly of scientists. and poor candace! “husbands can walk away but baby daddies are vulnerable” LOL HUH

also where was the plot?? the synopsis sounded promising but they failed to execute here.
