The vast, arid landscape makes the film. You can’t hide out in the open desert, or flat acres of farmland - whether a human fleeing from vampires, or vampires barely clinging to life as the sun hits. The shots during dawn and dusk are so atmospheric. And of course the shot of everyone standing on a hill, in the dark, emerging from fog. Visually I loved it.

I went into this hesitant of how good it would be, hearing praise of how much better it is than the first one. I didn’t want to be disappointed, so I lowered my expectations.
But the opening scene came and went, and I knew already that this was already a massive improvement from the original. The opening in one take is probably my favorite scene from the movie, but everything else was also great.
