“the city of illusions”
glad I saw this!
long, visually beautiful shots; slow pace overall (which is usually not my jam but in this case it had a purpose/I liked it); visual symbolism & covert dialogue throughout (yay good acting & cinematography)
I enjoy the themes (big city vs small city, intergenerational views of love & fate, intergenerational friendship, worker rights, interreligious relationships)
was a little “womp womp” when ole girls secret lover was a man ngl lol
very interesting imagined (?) conversation w/ Prabha’s husband scene; after this, I’m glad that she was able to let go/show up for her friend in a way that no one showed up for her in the past.
in general so happy to see a film by & for & about these women! 💛
