Raid of the Rainbow Lounge 2012
this is homogenous (too white of a POV) & the copaganda is palpable, but I'm glad I know more about the response to the Rainbow Lounge Raid. This happened when I was. kid growing up in FW & has been misrepresented in many LGBTQ Studies publications </3
I hope that more media that represents the situation from more diverse perspectives/a "where is Fort Worth on LGBTQ+ inclusivity now" sequel will happen soon!
Also, non-Black ppl: please don't say "back of the bus treatment", like, ever!

wish they would’ve made the racism piece earlier; also, saying a Hip Hop space is antithetical to a gay space is.. a choice! was also v hard to hear one of the ladies say she “respected” the owner’s choice to be racist. like, y r u saying that in 2018 unchecked😐
craft-wise I think the doc could’ve benefitted from some better photoshopping; the sequence of storytelling was also a bit.. all over the place.
overall I appreciated learning this history, & hope that modern day queer spaces learn from its mistakes (lack of inclusion via race, orientation, & gender).Translated from by -
