Anora 2024
My main issue with Anora was her lack of a super-objective. While the character had small objectives throughout the film, the powers that be MADE THE DECISION not to make it clear any underlying purpose the character had to exist outside of her current circumstance.
Which I think, given the subject matter, was reductive, short-sighted, and did a complete disservice to the communities it represented, making certain moments that could have potentially felt powerful, cringe to watch.
